United Women in faith
At Glenmont United Methodist Church, the United Women in Faith (UWF) is a vibrant community of women committed to deepening their spiritual lives, fostering supportive relationships, and engaging in mission work that uplifts women, children, and youth both locally and globally. Formerly known as United Methodist Women, UWF continues its legacy as the official women’s organization of The United Methodist Church, embracing a renewed identity that reflects the evolving ways women live and express their faith today.
Rooted in our Purpose—to know God, to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church—our Glenmont UWF chapter actively participates in spiritual growth opportunities, leadership development, and advocacy for justice. Through Bible studies, prayer groups, mission projects, and educational programs, we strive to turn faith, hope, and love into action.
Our activities are designed to be inclusive and adaptable, welcoming women from all walks of life to join us in making a meaningful impact. Whether it's through hands-on service, fundraising for mission initiatives, or engaging in discussions on social issues, the Glenmont UWF provides a platform for women to connect, grow, and serve together.
We invite all women interested in joining this dynamic group to reach out to the church office at office@glenmontumc.org for more information on how to get involved. Together, we can continue to build a community that reflects God's love and compassion in action.
The Glenmont chapter of United Women in Faith (UWF) is deeply invested in spiritual growth and in generous acts of service and witness. We have three active circles (small groups), which meet during the third week of each month:
-
The Sunday Circle meets at 11:30am on the third Sunday of the month;
-
United Women in Faith are holding Monday evening prayer and check-in calls, starting at 7:30 each week.
-
The Day Circle meets at 1pm on the third Thursday of the month;
-
The Evening Circle meets at 7pm on the third Monday of the month.
Contact the Church Office if you would like to join a circle.
The UWF Quilting Ministry has been active at Glenmont for more than 25 years. Each year, participants make baby quilts and caps to distribute to local hospitals and to give to families in our community.
The UWF also supports local missions projects, including:
-
The Susanna Wesley house for women and children in Baltimore, MD.
-
The Montgomery Women's Center in Rockville, MD.
-
Kairos Outside, a ministry that shares the love of Christ with women who are impacted by a loved one's incarceration.
